You should not feel pain during your procedure. We use local anesthetic, delivered with The Wand®, to numb the specific area we are treating. You may feel some pressure, but you should not feel sharp pain. If you are anxious, oral sedation can help you relax even more.

Before your surgery day, we will give you written instructions to follow. These may include when to stop eating or drinking, especially if you will take oral sedation. Arrange for a trusted adult to drive you if you are taking a sedative. Wear comfortable, loose clothing and avoid heavy makeup or jewelry. Make sure we know about all medicines you take and any health conditions you have.

For the first day or two, stick to soft, cool foods that do not require chewing. Good choices include yogurt, applesauce, pudding, smoothies, scrambled eggs, and mashed potatoes. Avoid hot, spicy, or crunchy foods, as well as anything with small seeds that can get stuck in the surgical area.

Recovery time depends on the type of procedure and your overall health. You can expect to feel mostly back to normal in a few days, especially after simple tooth extractions. More complex surgeries, like wisdom tooth removal, can take a couple of weeks or longer for full healing. Swelling and mild discomfort are common for the first few days.
